AR Murugadoss talks about his much awaited film ‘Spyder’. He tells us about the film and why was it a joy working with Mahesh Babu.
Tell us about Mahesh Babu?
He is a director's dream. I saw his film Okkadu and was enthralled with his performance. I waited for 10 long years to direct him. Somehow things never fell in place then...But then spyder happened. Mahesh Babu is a director's man. He is completely focussed. He never complained and was very co-operative.
Why only Mahesh Babu for ‘Spyder’?
He was the only choice. When I saw Mahesh Babu I decided that I will be making a spy thriller with him. Added to this Mahesh Babu is fluent in Tamil as well, which is an added bonus. He agreed to be a part of the film immediately.
‘Spyder’ took a lot of time to complete...
It is a bilingual movie and we have shot separately for Tamil and Telugu version. It's like shooting two films. Also lots of action is there is the film so special effects has taken time. Everything is complete except for a song which will be completed soon.
What is ‘Spyder’ all about?
Like everyone knows it is a spy thriller. But it is not just that. There is social message and emotion content as well. This will make the film more interesting.
Why is ‘Spyder’ not coming in Hindi?
The story is based in Hyderabad. I had no plans of making it in Hindi ever. Moreover making the film in Tamil and Telugu was itself hectic.
Will Mahesh be popular in Tamil cinema?
Mahesh Babu is a known face in Tamilnadu. We have planned a grand launch for him there. This will happen on 8th September. You must check out how Mahesh has dubbed in Tamil, you will surprised.
Future projects?
I have couple of projects in mind. I have also narrated a story to Rajinikanth and he has liked the story. But before going to my next film I want to take break for three to four months.
