Recently, the state government has passed orders prohibiting collection of parking charges from audiences, shopping mall customers and at hospitals. Members of Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce (TSFCC) requested the State government to remove the prohibition on parking fee at theatres, especially single screens. They held press meet on Thursday, i.e. on June 28 in Hyderabad.
Speaking at the press meet, Murali Mohan, TSFCC president, said, “Earlier, there were 872 theatres in Telangana and now the count came to 400. Along with those, there are 130 screens in 30 multiplexes. Government has taken the decision because of malls which are taking high charges. It is not the correct decision to implement the same rule for theaters as this is one of the main income sources for theatre owners. If this continues, there is a chance that many theatres will be shut down because of losses.”
Sunil Narang, TSFCC secretary, said, “With the prohibition on parking fee at theatres, it became difficult to manage or provide the security to the vehicles of the audiences. The government should regulate the parking fee and do the needful at the earliest.”
Balagovind Raj Tandla, Telugu producers council president Gemini KIran and Telangana Film Exhibitors members Mallareddy, Nagendra Rao, Sadanand Goud, Chari and Siraj Ahmed and some others were present at the press meet. They too spoke at the press meet and urged the government to regulate the parking policy and do the needful at the earliest.
