Maestro Ilayaraja has paid a rich tribute to Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, who passed away on Tuesday due to cancer. In his lyrical ode, the legendary composer said that the lyricist gave an aesthetic and artistic touch to commercial films with his songs. Saying that Sirivennela's lyrics were meaningful and beautiful, Ilayaraja then added that his songs were always convincing and profound.
Describing Seetharamudu (another way of addressing Seetharama Sastry) as a 'Kaveeswarudu', the Maestro observed that his lyrics were a 'Gnana Ganga'. "The 'Swaraswati Putrudu' started out as an assistant under Sri Veturi garu. He reached the peaks within a short time. In our collaboration, a number of songs sprung to life," the Maestro added, making a mention of 'Rudra Veena', 'Swarna Kamalam' and 'Bobbili Raja'.
'Rangamarthanda', which is directed by Krishna Vamsi, their last film together is yet to be released. "I would compete with him to give my best music," the Maestro added.
