Not many know that Gunaranjan Shetty, Anushka Shetty's elder brother, is a social activist who spearheads a Kannada outfit named Jayakarnataka Janapara Vedike. In his long career in multiple roles, he has also assisted the businessman, Late Muthappa Rai, after Rai left the underworld to become a don-turned-businessman. At that time, Gunaranjan closely worked with Manvit Rai and Rakesh Malli, two individuals who are now in the news in connection with making alleged death threats.
Gunaranjan has alleged that Manvit and Rakesh are trying to eliminate him for some reason. As per him, they have turned against him after being his friends in the past. It's not known what drove them apart.
It may be noted that Muthappa Rai breathed his last in 2020, leaving behind a business legacy.
Since Gunaranjan is related to Anushka, the 'Baahubali' and 'Bhaagamathie' actress, the news of him receiving death threats has occupied headlines. A news agency report says that Gunaranjan has some influence in both Bengaluru and Mangalore by virtue of his past association with businessman Rai and as the leader of the Kannada outfit.
So far, Manvit Rai alone has reacted to the allegations made against him. As per him, he has no clue why Gunaranjan has complained about facing a life threat to the Karnakata Home Minister. Manvit Rai has claimed that he has not been in India.
