Fans of Chiranjeevi, others make weak excuses

One common refrain we are listening to, of late, is that 'Acharya' was not promoted well and that's why the film has bombed at the box office. Social media is abuzz with this narrative. Many fans are tagging Konidela Production Company for allegedly not learning enough from the enthusiastic makers of 'RRR' and 'KGF 2'.

Recently, 'Beast' (Telugu version) came in for a similar charge. Movie buffs wondered why Thalapathy Vijay didn't visit Hyderabad to promote the movie as if the film flopped only because Vijay didn't promote it in the Telugu States.

'Radhe Shyam', too, faced some backlash over allegedly weak promotions despite Prabhas setting aside several days for promotional interviews.

Actually, the fans of Chiranjeevi, Vijay, Prabhas and a few other heroes seem to be falling back on a flimsy excuse. Whenever a film flops, fans come up with this argument: 'Promotions were weak blah blah'.

'Pushpa: The Rise' had zero promotions in Hindi. How did it become a blockbuster then? Even if we think it is an exception, think of movies like 'Sarkar', 'Whistle' and 'Master'. These Vijay movies became hits in Telugu. Never did the Tamil superstar promote them in the Telugu States.

Also, 'Acharya' is a well-promoted movie. Things didn't look bright because of its boring trailer. If the trailer doesn't click, no movie can get the required momentum. Chiranjeevi can do door-to-door campaigns and yet nobody will watch a formulaic, outdated movie whose story could be guessed to a fair degree from trailer.
