Mahesh Babu is strictly apolitical. Any neutral observer can vouch for this. But the line 'Nenu vinnanu. Nenu unnanu' in the trailer for 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' has come to bite him.
The line has been drawn from 'Yatra', the YSR biopic. Since YS Jaganmohan Reddy borrowed the dramatized line from the movie in the run up to the 2019 Assembly elections, it has been seen as a YCP slogan.
With Mahesh mouthing the line for fun in the 'SVP' trailer, many are saying that he is a pro-government actor now.
Labelling artists as pro- or anti-government is a sexy but useless game. Artists don't behave like idealistic activists who are found only in movies. Most of the actors are passive supporters of those in power. If Mahesh is sounding pro-government it is because he is not anti-government. And no other Telugu actor can be called anti-government either. Why single out Mahesh Babu for sensational labelling?
