Prakash Raj calls out cinema industry's 'mafia'

Prakash Raj is no stranger to controversies. In his latest interview, the versatile actor suggested that there has been a mafia in the film industry. This is not certainly restricted only to the Telugu film industry but the country as a whole.

Speaking to a national daily, the 'Vakeel Saab' and 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' actor commented that, before the Covid-19 pandemic, content makers were forced to release movies only in theatres. They were barred from reaching out to their target audience directly on TV, for example.

But the pandemic has resulted in the penetration of OTT. Thanks to streaming platforms, content creators and artists are able to bypass theatres, Prakash Raj suggested.

"They put conditions on it that you should show it only in theatres. Everybody had been stopping things by saying things like you can’t release it on TV first etc. But once the pandemic stopped this mafia, people had to go and this content came out,” he told Hindustan Times.
