The machine gun seen during the interval action sequence in 'Animal' was constructed painstakingly for four months by production designer Suresh Selvarajan. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has plans to put it up at his office either temporarily or permanently.
The latest pics put out by the makers of the Bollywood film show that the machine gun looks gorgeous but, somehow, its classy look was not showcased properly in the film. A critic described it as a "tractor with inverted bagpipes".
The director, the action choreographer and the cinematographer should have shown the machine gun creatively. An artist appears in the sequence to extol the heavy machine as a completely 'Made in India' product, dragging down the gravity of the situation. He comically screams 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' out of nowhere.
'Animal', co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, is produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.
