Natural Star Nani seems to be suggesting in his pre-'Dasara' interviews that he has delivered no flop since 'Devadas' in 2018.
Let's analyze his filmography and his remarks. 'V' and 'Tuck Jagadish' were released on OTT. Both films were disliked by the audience. As per the actor, both films drew remarkable viewership on Amazon Prime Video. He is not at all defensive about the two movies. In an interview this week, he stated unambiguously that both films are safe projects for their respective producers and the streaming platform.
To be fair to Nani, audience might have disliked the movies but they still watched them on OTT. So, he is most likely honest about the result.
That leaves us with 'Shyam Singha Roy' and 'Ante Sundaraniki'. The former was a BO hit as per the makers. BO trade reports, too, seem to support the view.
Regarding his 'Ante Sundaraniki', which has been labeled a commercial failure, Nani shared in a recent interview that he believes it was well-suited for its genre as a family film with a coming-of-age storyline. According to him, comparing it to a typical commercial entertainer in terms of box office performance is not fair. Nani is of the opinion that the film's business was aided significantly by his presence as the lead actor and that it would have performed much worse without him.
To sum up, it would not be an exaggeration to state that Nani considers his career to have been devoid of any failures in the past five years.
