Old-timers will tell you what kind of a trendsetter veteran filmmaker Vittalacharya was.'Janapada Brahma' is his sobriquet for a reason. His folklore films were sui generis stuff. A book chronicling Vittalacharya's eventful film journey is out. Penned by publicist, journalist, literature lover and writer Pulagam Chinnarayana, it was released today at an event in the presence of star director Trivikram Srinivas. The book is named 'Jai Vittalacharya'.

The 'Guntur Kaaram' maker said that he has read Pulagam's earlier books and wished his latest endeavour a success. He described Vittalacharya as the Father of Telugu Mass Cinema and the Father of Folklore Cinema. "Neither his immense success ratio, nor the reach of his movies, nor his popularity is known to the present generation. Most of today's generation doesn't know him except because of YouTube or the satellite channels that broadcast old movies. I wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts by Chinnarayana to bring out his life and works," the star filmmaker said, appreciating the author for putting in detailed research with no commercial interests in mind. Even the publisher doesn't stand to gain much.

Pulagam Chinnarayana interviewed not only film industry stalwarts but also the family members of Vittalacharya. "I have prepared this book with behind-the-scenes features of 39 movies directed by the iconic filmmaker. Besides, several interesting anecdotes and pieces of info have been documented for the first time ever," he said, thanking Trivikram for gracing the occasion.

The book is out on Movie Volume Media, the publishing house run by Zeelan Basha Shaikh.
