Can 'BAAK' overcome limitations and impress audiences?

'BAAK', a horror-comedy directed by Sundar C, will be heading to theatres on May 3. It is backed by Asian Cinemas and Suresh Productions.

To be sure, the audience are tired of horror-comedies lately. Even 'Om Bheem Bush' couldn't realize its full potential despite so much hype and promotions. The recent 'Geethanjali Malli Vacchindi' earned a better 'word of mouth' talk but the film didn't do too well.

In this context, 'BAAK' has a bigger challenge, given that it is a dubbed movie. Tamil movies dubbed into Telugu have had a terribly bad time. Some of the movies like 'Captain Miller' and 'DeAr' have largely gone unnoticed. To be faire to 'BAAK', its VFX quality looks decent. Also, it has four artists who are known to the Telugu audience intimately: Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashi Khanna, Vennela Kishore and Srinivas Reddy. These two factors must help, besides the Summer holiday season.

However, the film is expected to face stiff competition from 'Prasanna Vadanam' and 'Aa Okkati Adakku'.
