'BAAK', a horror-comedy directed by Sundar C, stars Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashi Khanna, Sundar C and others. Its Telugu theatrical release was backed by Asian Cinemas and Suresh Productions. In Tamil, it was titled 'Aranmanai 4'. The Telugu version was a disaster but the Tamil version became a hit.
Starring also Vennela Kishore and Srinivas Reddy, the film will now stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from June 21.
With music by Hiphop Tamizha, 'BAAK' also features Sunil and KS Ravikumar.
The reasons for its failure in Telugu theaters are clear. The film's trailer didn't offer anything fresh. Horror-comedies with a Tamil flavor aren't well-received in Telugu cinema because Tollywood filmmakers have already mastered this genre. Kollywood directors don't bring anything new to the table.
