The makers of Gopichand's 'Viswam' have released a poster claiming that the film's distributors had recovered 100% of their investments in just two days. 'Viswam' was released in theatres on October 11.
In reality, 'Viswam' is on its way to becoming a commercial dud, with the break-even standing at about Rs 14 Cr. As per trade observers, the commercial action entertainer didn't recover even 20% of the investment.
Inflated claims about box office collections are routine in Telugu cinema. But the exaggeration has to be within certain limits. It wouldn't be shocking if the recovery is 70% and you claim the recovery is cent per cent. But wild claims would invite everyone's ridicule.
'Viswam', directed by Sreenu Vaitla, co-stars Kavya Thapar, VK Naresh, Jisshu Sengupta, Vennela Kishore, and others. Its music is by Chaitan Bharadwaj. With cinematography by KV Guhan, 'Viswam' has a bunch of comedians (like Prudhviraj, VTV Ganesh and Chammak Chandra) in different roles.
