Something strange took place in Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh near the historic Asirgarh Fort. National media reports indicate that a large number of residents initiated a late-night gold hunt, armed with flashlights and metal detectors, in pursuit of a rumored Mughal-era treasure.
The strange activity began following the villagers viewing the Hindi-language film Chhaava. The film, which depicts historical events, appears to have "reignited local lore surrounding potential buried riches near the ancient fort".
In no time, social media platforms like X and Facebook have been flooded with videos capturing the native villagers digging in fields in the odd hour. Some villagers used metal detectors in their search. Since they used metal detectors and flashlights, it is evident that they had planned the activity well before the execution.
Meanwhile, the Telugu-dubbed version of Chhaava was released in theatres this Friday. As per early trade reports, the Vicky Kaushal-starrer collected Rs 2.75 Cr gross in the Telugu States. Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna have played prominent roles in Chhaava.
