K E Gnanavel Raja, who earlier delivered super hits like ‘Yuganiki Okkadu’, ‘Aawara’, ‘Naa Peru Siva’, ‘Yamudu’ and ‘Singham’ on his banner Studio Green earlier, now came out with the film ‘Biriyani’ starring Karthi and Hansika under Venkat Prabhu’s direction. The film opened to theaters on December 20 on 2500 screens. On this occasion producer K E Gnanavel Raja reacted over the people’s response on the film.
Gnanavel Raja said, “It’s known to all that Karthi has hit a hattrick with ‘Yuganiki Okkadu’, ‘Aawara’ and ‘Naa Peru Siva’. However the results of his next two films failed to reach our expectations. Nevertheless ‘Biriyani’ became successful and stood as the biggest hit film in Karthi’s career. I’m very happy to note the positive talk along with the wide range of openings. The main reason for the success was Karthi’s performance, Venkat Prabhu’s taking, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music and Selva’s fights. Another interesting aspect of this film is it’s the 100th film for music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and fight master Selva. In a way, ‘Biriyani’ is a come back film for hero Karthi. ‘Biriyani’ is yet another biggest blockbuster film for Venkat Prabhu who earlier delivered a big hit like ‘Mankatha’. Similarly, it’s a tremendous hit for Karthi in Tamil. On behalf of Studio Green, I whole-heartedly thank audience and Karthi’s fans for making ‘Biriyani’ the biggest hit in Telugu. We are planning for a triple platinum disc function shortly marking the audio success.”
