'Madras', which stars Karthi in an unconventional role, is dubbed from Tamil. The original version directed by Pa.Ranjith was released in theatres in 2014. It cemented the 'Kabali' and 'Kaala' director's position in Kollywood much before Rajinikanth teamed up with him for two movies.
A socio-political thriller, the film has been produced by Kollywood's top producer KE Gnanavel Raja. "We are glad to release 'Madras' in Telugu. It not only received critical acclaim but also minted money at the box office in Tamil," the makers said.
Also featuring Kalaiyarasan Harikrishnan, Catherine Tresa, and Riythvika, the film's actual release date will be announced soon. Music is by Santhosh Narayanan.
