The trailer for 'Bubblegum' was released on Friday. In the rom-com, Maanasa Choudhary takes on the role of Janhvi, a contemporary woman whose open-minded demeanor is misconstrued as permissiveness by her boyfriend, portrayed by debutant Roshan Kanakala. This movie, directed by Ravikanth Perepu of 'Kshanam' fame, holds significant importance for the 23-year-old actress.
The newcomer seems to be a natural when it comes to dialogue delivery. It is good that the director didn't choose a regular dubbing artist for her character even though her voice doesn't meet the conventional standards. There is an effortless flow in the way she says a couple of lines in the trailer.
A newbie rarely gets to do a love story where the female lead is not sidelined in favour of the male lead's heroism. In most commercial entertainers, the heroine has an unequal part. In 'Bubblegum', on the face of it, Maanasa's role is not secondary as far as the love story part is concerned. The segment concerning the male lead's dream-chasing might be otherwise, though.
The film, produced by People Media Factory, will be released in theatres on December 29.
