A celebrity appearance made by Tamannaah Bhatia about a year ago has landed her in trouble. The Enforcement Directorate questioned her on Thursday in connection with a money laundering investigation involving a mobile app named 'HPZ Token'. Several investors (predominantly from the state of Assam) were allegedly cheated by the app, which promised the mining of cryptocurrencies.
The actress allegedly received "funds" to make a celebrity appearance for the app. And this is illegal. She was grilled for a full eight hours on Thursday. At the time of writing, Tamannaah hasn't issued any statement.
In April this year, Tamannah was summoned for questioning by authorities after she faced allegations of promoting the viewing of IPL matches on an illegal betting app, which was not entitled to telecast the matches in the first place. Since the telecast was not authorized, Viacom 18, the owner of exclusive streaming rights, had lodged a complaint.
The 'Sye Raa' actress, on the work front, was recently seen in the Tamil film 'Aranmanai 4', which was dubbed in Telugu as 'BAAK'. In Bollywood's 'Vedaa', she played an extended cameo role.
