From 'Devara' to 'Game Changer': The Curse of Online Backlash

Do big-hero movies automatically suffer from "divide" mouth talk? If producer S Naga Vamsi is to be believed, yes.

Recently, Naga Vamsi distributed 'Devara' in the Telugu States. The film received a heavy backlash online after its Trailer was released. Netizens wrote off the Jr NTR-starrer, saying that it would be another 'Acharya'-like disaster from Koratala Siva.

Naga Vamsi says that such "divide talk" is to be expected for any big-hero movie. He probably believes that big heroes have a legion of audiences who are against them and want to see their movies bite the dust. This audience base goes out of its way to sling mud at these big-hero movies.

Even event films like 'Kalki 2898 AD' and 'Salaar', remakes like 'Bheemla Nayak', entertainers like 'Guntur Kaaram' and 'Waltair Veerayya', and films like 'Game Changer' about which nothing much is known to the audience are not exempt from this norm. Online narratives these days are driven by negativity and amplified by hate.
